Daily Itinerary

Day 1 & 2: (Sunday - Monday , 01 – 02 February) – Enroute

Tour guides Ed Steteler and Robert Burke arrive Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) on Sunday 2/1/09.
Day of Discovery film crew arrive in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) on Monday 2/2/09..

Day 3: (Tuesday, 03 February) – Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Free day for film crew until Vietnam Veterans Phil D. and Mike W. arrive.

Day 4: (Wednesday, 04 February) – Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Today we begin our exploration of Saigon visiting such sites as the Cha Cham Church, Cholon District, the Presidential Palace, US Consulate Building, the War Remnants Museum and other sites of interest in the City.  In the evening we are free to explore along old Tu Do Street (now Dong Khoi Street) and other shopping areas.

Day 5: (Thursday, 05 February) – Ho Chi Minh City to Pleiku

After a leisurely morning we transfer to Tan Son Nhut Airfield for our 14:00 p.m. flight to Pleiku.  We arrive at 15:15 p.m. and transfer to our hotel.  We have the rest of the day to explore around Pleiku.

Day 6: (Friday, 6 February) – Pleiku

Today we explore sites in and around Pleiku.

Day 7: (Saturday, 7 February) – Pleiku to Qui Nhon

Today we leave Pleiku and travel to Qui Nhon.  Along the way, we will visit sites in the An Khe area and travel through the Mang Yang Pass.

Day 8: (Sunday, 08 February) – Qui Nhon to Quang Ngai

Today we will visit locations around Hoai Nhon which will include the Bong Son Plains and LZ English.  Afterwards we continue on to Quang Ngai where we will spend the night.

Day 9: (Monday, 09 February) – Quang Ngai to Hoi An

Today we travel into the Que Son Valley to visit the villages of Dong Son (1) and (2); Chau Lam (1), (2) and (4); Xuan Thuong (4) and Hill 63.  We continue on to Hoi An for the evening.

Day 10: (Tuesday, 10 February) – Hoi An

Today we visit LZ Ross, the Que Son Pass, Antenna Valley and the village of Ap Bon (2).  We will walk the old An Hoa Military Base and visit the south side of Liberty Bridge.  We return to Hoi An for the evening.

Day 11: (Wednesday, 11 February) – Hoi An to Da Nang

This morning we visit a silk factory, than head north toward Da Nang.  We will climb Marble Mountain to explore the VC Hospital area located deep within.  We will then visit China Beach and Red Beach II (where the first Marines landed in March 1965) before returning to Da Nang for the evening.

Day 12: (Thursday, 12 February) – Da Nang to Ha Noi

We have a free day today until we transfer to the airport for our 16:35 p.m. flight to Ha Noi.  After dinner, we will enjoy a visit (mission permitting) to the Marine House, home of the U.S. Marine Corps Security Guard responsible for the protection of the U.S. Ambassador and the American Embassy.

Day 13: (Friday, 13 February) – Ha Noi

Today we visit the Ho Chi Minh House, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Hoa Lo Prison (Hanoi Hilton), the John McCain Monument and to JPAC (Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command) for a command briefing on their efforts.  Late afternoon/evening, transfer Day of Discovery film crew and Vietnam Veterans Phil D. and Mike W. to airport for return trip home.

Day 14: (Saturday, 14 February) – RETURN to CONUS

Vietnam Battlefield Tours' guides Ed Steteler and Robert Burke return home.
